Why, yes; this is yet another blog about NaNoWriMo.
So, are you taking part? I’m not (having established through experience that 50,000 words in a month is beyond me), but I am following a personal challenge to get 30,000 words down during November.
With that in mind, I’m lapping up any word-count-challenge support, such as StoryWonk’s NaNo podcasts. Alastair Stephens and Lani Diane Rich will be putting a show up every day, sharing word counts, support and inspiration. The first episode is available here.

I am, although considering this November I’ve got other things to focus on as well, I’m not sure how this one will turn out. The last two years I easily achieved the target, but this year it depends. If I get a lot of clients coming my way, then I expect my output to fall. I write fast, but it’s more about motivation. The last project I did was 55,000 words, and according to the Word document counter it took me 38 hours…but that was spread over 16 weeks. So, we’ll see.
Good luck with your challenge. It’s great that you haven’t just decided 50,000 is impossible and given up on the whole idea. That’s what a lot of people seem to do and it’s a shame, because the idea is more about getting us to write *something* than to actually hit the target. Someone who does NaNoWriMo and writes 30,000 words in November hasn’t failed at all, unless at their own writing pace they would have written more than that in the month without the challenge anyway!
Thanks for visiting and your supportive comments! Having been revising an old project for most of this year, I’m really excited (and terrified) about entering ‘first draft territory’ again. Good luck with NaNo!
